 2022 Preview 


       Hokes Bluff completed the 2021 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Hokes Bluff just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region five with a 3-4 region record.

       Hokes Bluff took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2015. The Eagles lost as many games as in any season since 2015.

       Since 2010, Hokes Bluff has gone a combined 63-68. Their 48.1% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hokes Bluff has managed to compile a record of 168-113. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 3A and 95th in the AHSAA.




       The Eagles are led by head coach Michael Robertson who is entering his twenty-seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 170-121 over the past twenty-six seasons at Hokes Bluff. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times. They have won one region crown with Coach Robertson. Coach Robertson led to a state championship in 2001.

       Coach Robertson's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-six season stands at 170-121 (58.4%). His 170 wins rank 21st among active coaches in the AHSAA.

       The Hokes Bluff Eagles will play in Class 3A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Eagles remain in 3A but move from region five over to region six.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Eagles if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season.

       The Eagles open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Southside Gadsden on Thursday, August 25 at Mike Robertson Stadium. Last year the Southside Gadsden Panthers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 6A region seven. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Mountain Brook by a score of 63-0.

       Hokes Bluff and Southside Gadsden have met a total of 74 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 39-32-3 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2021 with Southside Gadsden winning by a score of 31-0.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
